Service Description
What you'll learn: -Glass cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering techniques -Finishing techniques such as patina and polish -Framing with zinc What's included: -Clear practice glass for cutting practice -2 tinned wire rings for hanging your piece -Use of pattern shears, cutting surfaces, zinc saw, and grinders -30 min before class of free studio time each week What to bring or buy (all supplies available at our shop but it isn't mandatory to buy them here): -Glass sufficient to create one of 18 patterns (see gallery below) -Tools (instructor will tell you what to bring each week): Glass cutter, breaking tools (grozer and runner), soldering iron intended for stained glass work, 50% lead/50% tin solder, liquid stained glass flux, 7/32" black or copper backed foil, homasote board, aluminum pin & strip set, fid/burnisher, 9/32" u zinc, solder patina, zinc patina, stained glass polish, patina brush, non-scratch scouring pad No experience necessary. Price includes tuition only; tools and supplies extra. Beginner kit available at 20% discount. Please budget between $200-$350 for glass and tools. PLEASE NOTE: stained glass is a time consuming process; students should expect between 1 and 4 hours of homework each week. Studio time is available (when no classes are running) at a rate of $10 per hour.
