Service Description
What you'll learn: -How to use wire to create overlay effects -How to create small foil overlays -How embed wire into the edge of a project for reinforcement -How and where to create hanging loops using edge wire What is included: -A selection of patterns (pattern should have between 10 and ~25 pieces, no more than 8" across) -Use of grinders, cutting surfaces during class What to bring or buy (all materials can be purchased here if so desired): -Pattern ideas (pattern should have between 10 and ~25 pieces, no more than 8" across) -Glass sufficient to create the chosen design -Tools & supplies for foil: Glass cutter, breaking tools (grozer and runner), soldering iron intended for stained glass work, 50% lead/50% tin solder, liquid stained glass flux, copper foil (size and color of preference), homasote board, aluminum pin & strip set, fid/burnisher, solder patina, stained glass polish, patina brush, 18 or 20 gauge copper or tinned copper wire, soldering mat (optional) Basic cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering experience necessary. Cost includes tuition only; tools and supplies extra. PLEASE NOTE: stained glass is a time consuming process; students should expect between 2 and 4 hours of homework between week 1 and week 2. Studio time is available (when no classes are running) at a rate of $10 per hour.
